Weather Veins: how to play
A pre-alpha co-op/PvP action MMO. It changes often, so expect rough edges, and tell us what breaks.
Start the game
- Windows: unzip anywhere and run
Game.exe. Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because the build isn't signed. Click More info, then Run anyway. - Linux: unpack, then run
./Game(if it won't start, runchmod +x Gamefirst).
Nothing to install: the .NET runtime is included.
Play online
- Make an account on the website (Register on the game's sign-in screen opens it).
- In the game choose Play online and sign in with that account. Leave Remember me on to skip this next time. The game keeps a sign-in token, never your password.
- Pick a world, create a character and you're in.
Forgot your password? Lost password on the sign-in screen (or the website) sends a reset link. You can change your password and email, and sign out everywhere, on the website's account page.
If it says your game is out of date, download the newest version from the website. The game and the server must be the same version.
Controls (keyboard + mouse)

Controller (Xbox layout): left stick moves, right stick flicks between targets, RT selects/attacks/talks, X/Y/B/RB tap to cast (hold to aim), LB blink, D-pad down loot, View opens the panels (LB/RB switch).
Good to know
- Quests are taken and handed in at the NPC with the ! / ? over their head. The map (
M) shows where each objective is. - Your characters belong to your account. The website shows them, with highscores and guilds.
- Settings are stored in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\WeatherVeins(Windows) or~/.local/share/WeatherVeins(Linux).
